Stress Release

Relaxation techniques that help to reduce stress:

Deep Breathing

Ø       Breathe in slowly, counting to five

Ø       Hold it for a few seconds

Ø       Breathe out slowly, counting to five

Ø       Repeat until you fell relaxed

 

 Visualization

Ø       Close your eyes and take slow, deep breaths

Ø       Imagine yourself in a calm peaceful place

Ø       When you feel relaxed, open your eyes

Ø       Try to stay in your relaxed state

 

 Muscle relaxation

Ø       Get in a comfortable position

Ø       Tighten muscles in your feet and toes for three seconds and release

Ø       Repeat, using the muscles in your claves then your thighs, etc., working up toward your head

Ø       When you are done, stay still for a moment before getting up

 

 Other ways to relax

Ø       Listen to music

Ø       Take a bath or shower

Ø       Do some light stretches
