Administration
The Administrator of the Wayne County Health Department must
meet State qualifications and is appointed by the Wayne County
Board of Health. The duties of the Administrator are many and
varied including:
- Preparing budgets and funding proposals
- Providing support and guidance for the program directors
- Acting as a liaison with other local, state, and federal agencies as well as units of government
- Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the department
- Working with other agencies to secure funding to provide needed support and services for the residents of Wayne County
- Directing media operations
- Planning, organizing, and directing work of professional, technical and clerical staff
- Establishing operational methods and procedures
- Assisting in the development of departmental policy
- Assisting in the development and revisions of rules and regulations
- Interpreting rules, regulations and policies
- Preparing necessary reports
- Directing the staff services of the department
- Directing the department personnel program
- Holding routine meetings with division heads
- Recommending staff additions or changes to the Wayne County Board of Health
- Employing, disciplining and terminating staff
- Recommending staff compensation to Wayne County Board of Health
- Working with the Wayne County Board of Health in approving and entering into contracts with local, state and federal agencies as well as other service providers
- Securing medical services
- Directing purchasing activities
- Directing procedural analysis, standards development,
research, and planning for the Department
